Job Description Job Title: Automation Engineer IILocation: Thousand Oaks, CA About the role: As an Automation Engineer II, you will partner with manufacturing to perform moderate troubleshooting of the automated control processes. You will contribute to the successful implementation of system improvement projects and guide improvements around manufacturing KFA (key focus areas) goals including people/safety, quality/regulatory/compliance, customer, financials, and operational excellence. How you will contribute:

  • Perform user interventions to ensure that the manufacturing process maintains a continuous flow.
  • Implement sustainable system to reduce UI occurrence and re-occurrence
  • Create, update, and maintain manufacturing SOPs to ensure that they are aligned with the current process steps.
  • Periodically audit manufacturing SOPs and revises them to maintain a rigid connection between control system actions and manual operations
  • Solve moderate automation system and manufacturing equipment issues that result in production delays, coordinates, and contacts support groups for assistance. This support will include DeltaV, PLC, BAS, process, equipment, and instrumentation
  • Help execute Project Record (PR) ownership, DeltaV/EBM/PLC/BAS configuration changes, functional tests, Commissioning Plans, and Qualification Protocols
  • Learn control systems and assist the team in daily manufacturing operations, troubleshooting, and change recommendations. Implement actions to prevent recurrence - this includes process and equipment issues
  • Lead and close small process improvement projects that relate to Control Systems, manufacturing process, manufacturing equipment, and the operator interaction with the automation system
  • Train the manufacturing operators on the interaction between manufacturing process and automation
  • Oversee and close corrective actions related to the automation system; this includes Corrective Action & Preventative Action (CAPA) that are generated because of user interventions and non-conformances/events
  • Discuss normally encountered technical issues, both verbally and in written form.
  • Solve routine design, process, and engineering problems with minimal assistance. What you bring to Takeda:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline required, preferable in Electrical Engineering.
    • Minimum 2 years of related work experience; preferred with PLC s / SCADA, OSI PI, DeltaV or other platforms. What Takeda can offer you:

        • Normal office environment.
        • May be asked to work more than 8 hours/40 hours per week, weekends, and holidays.
        • May require availability outside of business hours
        • May work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
        • Will need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
        • May work in a cold, hot, wet environment.
        • May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
