Sterile Processing Manager

Under general direction of the Director of Perioperative Services, or other hospital executive team member, responsible for analysis, planning, staffing, coordinating, supervising, and directing services for the Sterile Processing Departments (SPD) and requisite functions of departments at Hospital and Ambulatory Care unit; formulating and recommending operations policies and procedures; and performing related work as required.

Qualifications

• These are entrance requirements to the exam process and assure neither continuance in the process nor placement on an eligible list.
• Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in sterile processing oversight including decontaminating, inspecting, testing, sorting, assembling, packaging, maintenance of medical equipment and distributing a variety of reusable medical and surgical equipment, instrumentation, and supplies in an acute care hospital.
• Supervisory experience to include training staff, directing assignments, evaluating performance, and correcting behavior up to and including disciplinary action. Requirements (Must be certified in one of the following.)
  • International Association of Health Care Services Material Management (IAHCSMM)
  • Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • Association of Surgical Technologists (AST)
