Experience: Preferred experience with critical care or
medical-surgical or experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab/Special
Procedure department License: Required Registered Nurse (RN)
licensure in the state of practice Certifications: Advanced Cardiac
Life Support (ACLS) certification: Required Basic Life Support
(BLS) certification: Required Advanced Electrocardiogram (EKG)
certification: Preferred Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS):
Required Description: Observes, evaluates, and coordinates the care
given to patients in the Special Procedures department.
Participates in direct and indirect care of all related activities
according to the policies and procedures of the organization.
Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or
situation. Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis
and care issues. Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to
attain outcomes. Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery,
and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes. Identifies outcomes
for the patient or the patient's situation. Connects
electrocardiogram (EKG) leads and alerts the doctor of any changes
in patient condition. Records and analyzes hemodynamic parameters
and calculates shunt and valve data. Monitors patients, analyzes
electrocardiogram (EKG) and hemodynamic parameters, and reports
changes in the patients' condition to physicians. Operates
computerized systems with accuracy and evaluates significant data
and findings throughout all procedures for patients of various age
groups. Operates other specialized equipment such as intra-aortic
balloon pumps and automated coagulation timers. Collaborates with
the patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient
care in a safe, healing, and humane environment. Provides learning
opportunities for patients, family members, and team members.
Directly provides health information to patients, families, and the
treatment team. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. The
department performs before, during, and after-care of invasive,
interventional, and therapeutic procedures/studies to treat various
disorders and conduct therapeutic procedures. Medical and religious
