Job Description:


  • The work involves accomplishing various repairs and maintenance work of various types of heavy mobile construction and maritime equipment. The incumbent assists higher graded mobile equipment mechanics in disassembling and repairing major systems, components and complex operating mechanisms. The following duties are performed 100% of the time:
  • A. Diagnoses, troubleshoots, removes, adjusts, modifies, repairs or replaces defective components in such sub-systems as ignition, emission, electronic and computer controlled systems, injection systems, or overhauling various operating mechanisms including transmissions, hydraulics, and other power-systems and controls.
  • B. Repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds attachments and other utility systems on such equipment as bulldozers, road graders, rollers, power shovels, backhoes, stationary generators, Light Amphibious Recovery Craft (LARC Vs), 7 and 11 Meter Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs), Patrol Boats, welders and special purpose trucks and equipment. Equipment normally has extensive hydraulic, pneumatic and electro-mechanical powered systems and controls not commonly found on conventional transport or over-the- road trucks.
  • C. Disassembles diesel or gasoline engines as necessary and inspects repairs or replaces such parts as injection valves, cylinder heads, cylinder sleeves, pistons, rings, connecting rods, bearings, gaskets, and crankshafts.
  • D. Repairs clutches, transmission systems, differentials, final drives, generators, governors, reduction gears, hydraulic systems, braking systems, marine water jet propulsion steering systems and marine outdrive systems, cooling systems electrical systems, booms and similar units. Installs and aligns internal combustion engines, hoisting machinery and related equipment. Repairs tracks, drives, rollers, sprockets, hoisting units and other working attachments on all equipment including but not limited to cranes, bulldozers, and tractors.
    This position has vacancies to fill in both Port Hueneme, CA. and Gulfport, MS. Salary will be based on location.
