Position Summary:
A neonatal respiratory therapist requires specialized training in neonatal respiratory care. The respiratory therapist is responsible for respiratory procedures and equipment in the NICU and nursery, attending high-risk deliveries, going on transport to other hospitals to pick up sick newborns.
 
Reports To: NICU Coordinator
Supervises: None

Qualifications

Position Requirements:
Licensure, Certifications, and Registrations:
  • Current State of California RCP License
  • Current BCLS required
  • Current NRP required
  • Current PALS preferred
Education:
  • High School education
  • Graduation from an AMA approved 1 or 2 year Respiratory Therapy Program
Experience:
  • 2-years’ experience in an acute care setting. 
  • Minimum of one-year experience in a level II or III NICU.
Special Qualifications:
  • Demonstrates desired clinical skills related to Respiratory Therapy. 
  • Good communication skills
  • Good Computer skills desirable. 
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, without sacrificing quality of care.
