Network SystemsLocation: Thousand Oaks, CAAbout the role:The Sr
Automation Engineer is responsible for providing day-to-day
automation network systems support, system administration, and
executing automation projects related to implementation & upgrading
of the process control systems.How you will contribute:
- Administer and maintain the site manufacturing automation
systems and operational technology (OT) such as DeltaV system,
Building Automation System, etc.
- Administration includes, but is not limited to, domain
management for user security, setting up group policies, and
configuring and verifying backup/restore of manufacturing
data/databases.
- Maintenance includes, but is not limited to, monitoring
performance of the automation networks, servers, clients, etc.
maintaining up-to-date patching for automation systems per OEM
recommendations and ensuring all anti-virus and other security
features are updated.
- Review, continuously update and standardize technical
documentation, procedures, and drawings for all manufacturing
automation systems.
- Documentation and drawings include, but not limited to, User
Requirement Specifications, Functional Specifications, Design
Specifications, network diagrams, architecture drawings, settings
for infrastructure components, panel layouts, BOMs, and Spare Parts
lists.
- With minimal guidance, schedule and lead a team through the
planning and execution of automation projects, or a defined piece
of a larger project.
- Includes generating detailed, accurate project schedules and
cost estimates, preparing business case justifications, interfacing
with cross-functional development groups and technical support
groups.
- Execute system administration tasks for all automation
systems.
- Manage databases of all the automation systems including
understanding of SQL database and its administration.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and assist in repair of automation
systems' infrastructure.
- Own and execute Project Records (PR) for configuration changes,
functional tests, Commissioning Plans, and Qualification
Protocols.
- Oversee and close corrective actions related to the automation
system; this includes Corrective Action & Preventative Action
(CAPA) that are generated due to user interventions, system
failures, and/or non-conformances/events.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge on the implementation of IT
infrastructure including networking, domain management, storage
maintenance, database maintenance and virtualization, for
automation systems in a pharmaceutical environment.
- Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of network
segmentation, cyber security and firewall for automation system and
design the architecture keeping need of data flow in mind.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of basic principles in various engineering
disciplines.
- Able to prioritize multiple tasks from multiple customers.
- Able to elevate issues up to a higher authority when
needed.
- Able to discuss encountered technical issues, both verbally and
in written form.
- Excellent communication skillset is a must and ability to work
as a collaborative team member.
- Demonstrated ability to solve routine design, process, and
automation engineering problems without assistance.
- Able to effectively lead and train less experienced engineers.
Effectively operate and potentially facilitate cross functional
teams with minimal guidance.
- Able to effectively run projects, coordinate contractors, and
direct the activities of technicians.
- Organize and present technical and project management overviews
without assistance.What you bring to Takeda:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering discipline
required, preferably in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- 3-5 years' experience in administration of IT networks,
operating systems (Windows 7/10, Windows Server 2008/2012), domain
management, server management, storage management and database
management.
- 1-2 years' experience in virtualization; knowledge of how to
build virtual infrastructure with hosts and external storage,
virtual networking and vCenter, vSphere.
- Hands-on experience with Thin Client technology, Citrix
environment, automation networks, and Ethernet industrial
networks.
- Familiarity with Distributed Control System configuration and
operation, especially Emerson DeltaV, Allen-Bradley PLC, and/or
Siemens BAS is a plus.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry standards for batch
control systems, software development life cycle methodologies, 21
CFR Part 11, and GAMP is a plus.
- Familiarity with PLC/HMI integration is a plus.What Takeda can

must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure
we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role,
you may:
- May work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning
and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and
body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud
areas.
- Will need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail
polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing
environment.
- May work in a cold, hot or wet environment.
- May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and
Celite that may require respiratory protection.
- May be asked to work more than 8 hours/40 hours per week,
including weekends & holidays.
- May require availability outside of business hours.
- Required to participate in a rotational 24/7 automation on-call
